Nether Robertland Primary well and truly rocked the Kelvinhall recently when they won the final of East Ayrshire Council’s Mini Basketball League (MBL).
Over 150 pupils from throughout East Ayrshire participated in the league with Primary 7 teams competing against each other in a series of monthly fixtures which ran from October last year through to March. Fraser McRoberts had been out of work for 9 months and was finding it difficult to gain employment, due to the recession. CASH BOOST MEANS LEARNING GOES GREEN AT GRANGE
Hundreds of children will benefit from a cash boost to their school to get them learning outdoors – thanks to the initiative of one of their teachers.
Grange Campus has been awarded a grant of £55,570 from the Climate Change Fund to establish an “outdoor classroom”, thanks to a successful bid by Morag Ferguson. Mrs Ferguson is a “transition teacher” in science, working with pupils from Grange, Annanhill, Park School and Woodstock School.

The Ladies’ 2010 season got under way at Portland Bowling Club last weekend and Provost Stephanie Young was pleased to be able to throw the first jack and two bowls to mark the occasion.
The Provost joined club members and representatives of bowling associations on the day and later enjoyed a dinner held to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary.

Easter was a sweet occasion for residents at Hollybush House, the residential wing of Combat Stress, as Fenwick based company, Cameron Confectionery made sure they were not forgotten.

AVRIL RAISES £500 IN 5K
Raising money and awareness for Combat Stress were school janitor Avril Ingram’s main aims when she completed a 5K run at Glasgow Green last month.
Through sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues, Avril managed to raise £500 by running the 5K in aid of Combat Stress, the charity that specialises in the care of British veterans who have suffered mental health problems after returning from conflict. Dean Young, 24, has finally found a job he enjoys, while knowing his hard work is contributing to the environment and the wellbeing of everyone in the local community.

SPRING CLEAN! COMMUNITY SERVICE TACKLE LITTER IN CUMNOCK AND BELLSBANK
Areas of Bellsbank and Cumnock are looking cleaner this spring after the “Keep Scotland Beautiful” campaign rolled into action with the help of Community Service workers.
As part of their aim to identify and engage in new projects which can directly benefit communities, Community Service by Offenders spent a weekend clearing up litter. In Bellsbank, wooded areas were earmarked for a spring clean, while in Cumnock the Glaisnock Burn which runs through the town was singled out for attention.
