GALSTON TO HURLFORD ROADWORKS
From Monday 5 July East Ayrshire Council’s Roads Maintenance Unit will be carrying out resurfacing works on the A71 – Galston to Hurlford.
This £255,000 project will involve removing part of the existing road surface, kerbing, drainage, regulating and resurfacing a 1690 metre length of carriageway.

COUNCIL AND POLICE PUT THE NAIL INTO TYRE DUMPING BUSINESS
East Ayrshire Council’s Corporate Enforcement Unit (CEU) and Strathclyde Police have been working in partnership to combat illegal dumping (fly tipping).
Thanks to information from the public, a 30-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for illegally dumping vehicle tyres near Earlston just outside Kilmarnock. The CEU will also report the firm involved to SEPA and the home authority for further offences linked to waste licences and disposal.

RESURFACING – A70 SMALLBURN ROAD, MUIRKIRK
From Monday 19 July East Ayrshire Council’s Roads Maintenance Unit will be carrying out resurfacing works on the A70 Smallburn Road, Muirkirk.
The works will take approximately 7 days to complete. This £80,000 project will involve removing the existing road surface, deep patching, kerbing, regulating and resurfacing a 300 metre length of carriageway.

East Ayrshire Council has signed a promise to commit to the aims of the Who Cares? Scotland Anti-Stigma campaign which sets out to give looked after children and young people a fair chance in life.

LEARNING DISABILITY WEEK
Cumnock hosted a unique event recently when over 300 people enjoyed a football tournament to celebrate Learning Disability Week.
Teams of all ages and abilities competed together in bright sunshine with great enthusiasm. FIREWORKS WILL LIGHT UP OUR SKIES AGAIN!
East Ayrshire Council will once again be hosting a Firework Display in Kay Park, Kilmarnock this November.
Cabinet has agreed to a series of changes to the event’s funding, and for the first time the public will be asked to make a voluntary contribution to help cover the running costs.

ZERO TOLERANCE KILMARNOCK
The Council’s Corporate Enforcement Unit is continuing to target the town centre with a Zero Tolerance approach to littering.
The ‘crack-down’ unit is continuing to patrol Kilmarnock Bus Station issuing fixed penalty notices on a regular basis. They are also carrying out regular patrols of the former MFI car park and McDonald’s car park which are strewn with litter on a daily basis.

Economic growth in Kilmarnock is set to be given a £100,000 boost from the Community Planning Partnership Development Fund.
The East Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board approved the funding allocation at its meeting of 24 June, to support the ‘Make it Kilmarnock’ (MiK) Plan.

Tenants and residents gathered in Kilmarnock recently for the seventh annual tenant’s conference at the Park Hotel.
Over 60 members of the local community attended the event to learn more about the future of housing in East Ayrshire.
