THREE IN A ROW FOR AUCHINLECK ACADEMY
Auchinleck Academy took the top prize for the third year in a row at the sixth annual inter-schools’ final of the Readers’ Cup Quiz.
Teams of S1 and S2 pupils from Auchinleck, Cumnock, Doon, Kilmarnock and St Joseph’s Academies competed against each other in five rounds of questions on all things ‘reading’. DIAGEO IN DISCUSSIONS TO GIFT LAND FOR NEW KILMARNOCK COLLEGE
Part of the Diageo site at Hill Street in Kilmarnock is being considered for a new Kilmarnock College Campus to establish the town as one of Scotland’s most ambitious centres of education.
Diageo has agreed in principle to donate around eight acres of the 31-acre site to the College, with the land likely to become available after the plant closes in mid-2012. The company has held a series of meetings with the College and East Ayrshire Council to address a number ..read more Read more
GOING OUT ON TOP!
The Hunter Centre in Kilmarnock played host to the British Weightlifting Championships and Commonwealth Trials last weekend.
One of the most interesting stories of the day came from the 56kg British Seniors Championship category, in which two members of Kilmarnock Amateur Weightlifting Club claimed the top two spots.
