Roads Update

We continue to carry out the gritting service in the evening and overnight, since road surface temperatures remain below zero at night.

Staff and contractors are working in minor roads and residential areas to address issues caused by parked cars.

We are currently targeting possible problems associated with road defects and potholing repairs commenced today.

Roads: (Wed, 13 Jan 2010) Roads – update Wednesday 13 January

All main roads are clear and gritting is continuing on minor and residential roads. School transport issues have been resolved.

We are now working steadily to clear footways for pedestrians.

As the thaw continues, the next phase will focus on dealing with potholes and major roads defects that have occurred as a result of freezing temperatures.

Roads – update Tuesday 12 January

East Ayrshire Council’s salt depots took delivery of 170 tonnes of salt yesterday.  This brings current salt stocks to approximately 700 tonnes – sufficient for 3 to 4 days gritting under current conditions.

With all main roads clear, we are  now focussing on minor roads and pathways.  We are continuing to clear rural routes to enable school transport services to return to normal and in towns we are tackling the build up of ice at crossings , shop fronts and bus ..read more Read more

Roads update – Saturday 9 January 2010

Following fresh snow falls last night, our gritters have been working to keep all priority routes open.  All main roads are black and clear of snow.
