All schools are now open and functioning. Adult Day Care Centres have been open but attendance has been reduced due to difficult conditions underfoot. It is anticipated that Centres will become fully functional on Monday.

Berryknowe remains closed due to difficulties with the heating system, but it is hoped that this facility will become operational in the near future.

East Ayrshire Schools – update Tuesday 12 January

Only one school remains closed – Witchhill Primary School, closed due to frozen pipes between the water main and the school. Pupils have been relocated to Shortlees Primary and Annanhill Primary.  Janitor and Asset Management monitoring the situation.

Update on Schools Closed due to adverse weather Sunday 10 January

Witchhill School, Kilmarnock will remain closed on Monday 11th January due to frozen water pipes underground. St. Xaviers Primary School, Dunaskin, Patna will re-open on Monday 11th January. Newmilns Nursery, operating within the Morton Hall will be closed on Monday 11th January. All other schools are open.

Parents and carers are advised to continue to consult the Council website and listen to West Sound for updates.

SCHOOLS CLOSED DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS

Witchhill School, Kilmarnock, will be closed on Friday 8 January and is likely to be closed on Monday 11 January, due to frozen water pipes underground.

St Xavier’s Primary School, Dunaskin, Patna, will also be closed on Friday 8 January, due to problems with frozen heating oil.

Parents and carers are advised to continue to consult the Council website and listen to West Sound for updates.

School Transport update

All schools in East Ayrshire are due to open tomorrow with the exception of Fenwick Primary School which is affected by a burst water main in the village.

School transport will operate on main routes, however parents are asked to use their discretion about sending children to school where roads are known to be inaccessible. Some taxis and smaller minibuses will be unable to access outlying areas and farms.
